Present continuous passive

Examples

The passive is formed with the verb to be + being + past participle (Your dinner is being served. More chips are being made.) The past participle is different for regular verbs (test - tested) and irregular verbs (break - broken).

How do you make passive forms?

Positive sentences: Your car is being tested now.
Negative sentences: The lions are not (aren't) being kept in cages these days.
Questions: Is our lunch being made at the moment?
Negative questions: Are the roads not being repaired this year? Aren't the roads being repaired this year?

Difference between the present continuous and present simple passive

We use the present continuous passive when we want to say that some action is in progress.
Your car is being washed. (We are working on it. Your car is not ready yet.)

The present simple passive is used to say that an action is finished.
Your car is washed. (We are finished. You car is ready.)
