Passive forms

We make sentences in the passive voice with the verb 'to be' and the past participle of regular verbs (discovered, smashed) and irregular verbs (done, cut, written).

Examples of all passive forms

Present simple: New houses are built in our neighbourhood every year.
Present continuous: This old house is being knocked down now.
Past simple: My credit card was stolen.
Past continuous: Some new software was being installed when I was there.
Future simple: A brand new mobile will be designed next year.
Present perfect: The door lock has been broken.
Past perfect: The project had been finished before the lesson ended.
Future perfect: The car will have been sold by the end of this year.
