Passive voice

Examples:

The car is repaired.
The room is being decorated.
The parcel will be sent.
The email has been written.
The window had been smashed.
The dinner will have been made.

Passive voice sentences

We make sentences in the passive voice with the verb 'to be' and the past participle of regular verbs (discovered, smashed) and irregular verbs (done, cut, written).

Examples

Active sentence: They build new houses in our neighbourhood every year.
Passive sentence: New houses are built in our neighbourhood every year.

Active sentence: They are knocking down this old house now.
Passive sentence: This old house is being knocked down now.

Active sentence: They will design a brand new mobile next year.
Passive sentence: A brand new mobile will be designed next year.

Active sentence: Someone stole my wallet and credit cards.
Passive sentence: My wallet and credit cards were stolen.

Active sentence: They were installing some new software when I was there.
Passive sentence: Some new software was being installed when I was there.

Active sentence: Someone has broken the door lock.
Passive sentence: The door lock has been broken.

Active sentence: They had finished the project before the lesson ended.
Passive sentence: The project had been finished before the lesson ended.

Active sentence: They will have sold the car by the end of this year.
Passive sentence: The car will have been sold by the end of this year.
